Para-Transit Mobility Aids

When scheduling a ride, please advise the scheduler if you will be traveling with a personal care attendant, companion, or need extra space for a mobility aid. 

Drivers Assistance

Drivers will provide physical assistance to riders entering and exiting the vans and will secure all mobility devices within the vehicle.

Go COMO has established a “three bag rule” limiting the number of bags a passenger can transport with them.  Bags cannot exceed 25 lbs., nor contain hazardous materials.  Drivers will help load and unload up to three bags or packages for riders and will place them curbside.  If assistance is needed beyond these points, it is the responsibility of the rider to make proper arrangements.

Personal Care Attendant (PCA) / Companions

Persons who can not travel independently should be accompanied by a personal care attendant. If the client intends to have a PCA accompany them, they should inform the scheduler when the ride is booked. A certified PCA may travel with the client, free. The client may also have a companion accompany them on a space available basis and will be charged $2 per ride. That is, additional companions will not displace other disabled patrons.

Mobility Aids and Life Support

Eligible riders may travel with service trained animals to assist them. Persons with respirators, portable oxygen or other life support equipment will not be refused service.

Mobility Device Dimensions

Go COMO Para-Transit restricts mobility device dimensions to a maximum 32″ width, 48″ length, 56″ height, and a 600 lb. combined weight (chair, the patron and accouterments).
